Poppingstein: The Modern Brometheus is an experimental and tragic collection of works. XPayne explores horror and pathos through a Black Pop filter using familiar cultural icons.
The following works are the result of an 8 Month long process to create some of the largest of his career, where each piece is its own experiment.
Each quote at the top of the experiment is taken from Frankenstein: The Modern Prometheus written by Mary Shelley.
X’s goal was to depict a darker side of my brand of Black Pop, to ground the fluffy colors and nostalgic quality of his work. The subject matter is heavy, the colors are mostly dark, and there is a underlying feeling of dread in all these works.
